Past Forward: Celebrating Critical Practices | Festival Film

India Foundation for the Arts (IFA) in collaboration with Bangalore International Centre (BIC) organised Past Forward: Celebrating Critical Practices. Spread across disciplines such as photography, visual arts, theatre, video installation, film, gaming, graphic art, sound, music, dance and puppetry, this festival featured a diverse line-up of artists sharing their work through panel discussions, performances, film screenings, exhibitions and workshops from October 30 to November 01, 2019.

 

Kali Kalisu

Watch this film on The Arts Education programme at India Foundation for the Arts (IFA), called Kali-Kalisu and translated as learn and teach in Kannada. The programme seeks to integrate arts in the curriculum through grants made to teachers and artists, training workshops and block level events for teachers and administrators working in government school contexts, across the state of Karnataka.

Project 560 Highlights

A short video which brings alive the many colours and themes of India Foundation for the Arts' (IFA) Project 560 Found Spaces Initiative, under which six Bangalore-based artists/ artist groups are being encouraged to engage with public spaces in the city.

Mallesha M: Model School Project 1

In 2013, we extended our support to two Kali-Kalisu teachers to transform their schools into "Kali-Kalisu Model schools" in Karnataka. These model schools will enable Kali-Kalisu trained teachers to take charge of creating and implementing a year-long plan of arts-based activities.

Madhukar M L: Addressing environmental concerns using folk art forms

In 2013 we made four grants under the Arts Education programme to support projects by teachers trained under our Kali-Kalisu initiative, that explore the potential of regional art forms and practices to sensitise the school and community about local issues, and to build networks of common artistic interests.
